About the Author

BIN WU, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ryerson University (Canada). He is an NSERC/Rockwell Automation Industrial Research Chair and the founder of the Laboratory for Electric Drive Applications and Research (LEDAR). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Engineering Institute of Canada, and Canadian Academy of Engineering.

YONGQIANG LANG, PhD, is a Senior Engineer in the State Grid Electric Power Research Institute (China). He worked in the LEDAR WindTech Laboratory at Ryerson University from November 2006 to June 2009 as a postdoctoral fellow in the area of wind power.

NAVID ZARGARI, PhD, is a leading expert in medium voltage drives and a practicing engineer for fifteen years. He has been with the Medium Voltage Business of Rockwell Automation Canada since 1994, and has in-depth knowledge of many aspects of adjustable speed drives and wind energy systems.

SAMIR KOURO, PhD, is a research academic in the Electronics Engineering Department of Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria (Chile).

About the Author
Richard E. Blahut is the Henry Magnuski Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the recipient of many awards including the IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal (1998), the Tau Beta Pi Daniel C. Drucker Eminent Faculty Award, and the IEEE Millennium Medal. He was named a Fellow of IBM Corporation in 1980 (where he worked for over 30 years) and was elected to the US National Academy of Engineering in 1990.

Channel Coding gone wild

I used this textbook for an introduction to Channel Coding class I took (graduate level). I think that the material is difficult, but this book is remarkably clear, considering that. I had no experience with Galois Fields or any of that kind of math before starting with this book, but I was able to grasp it. I think the main thing missing in this book are good summaries for each chapter, giving highlights of the important stuff. Sometimes it's hard to get an overall picture of the material, I got bogged down in math sometimes. Visually, the book is beautiful, good fonts, charts, etc...

A Tough Slog

At first I really liked this book, but the farther I progressed, the more confusing it got. By the time I got to somthing practical, I was completely lost. A couple of times, when I was having trouble understanding something, I went back and re-read a preceding chapter, but that was not enough. I was reading this on my own, rather than in a class, so I had nobody to ask for clarification when something was confusing. Maybe it would be okay in a course.
For the theorems, he doesn't state the asssumption. Instead, the reader is expected to know them because of the variable names. For example, because "p" was chosen to represent a prime number at some point in the book, I think that it is always a prime number from then on. However, he never stated that this is the case, so I'm not sure it is true. Sometimes a variable would start off fairly general, but he would add some assumptions about it for a later theorem. For subsequent uses of that variable, I would not know whether the variable was being used in its more general or more specific sense. The uncertainty about the meanings of variables just got to be too much for me.
A glossary would be helpful. In particular, it would be great to have a list of all the meanings of "primitive".

Reads like a magazine. Get a Flex/Muscle Mag/Men's Fitness subscription instead.

I have been lifting weights (naturally) for over 10 years and have hit a plateau. I was hoping this book would take me to the next level. However, the book is thin on content and fluffed with pictures of body builders (on roids). The little content there is is common knowledge for any intermediate or advanced fitness buff and can easily be researched online. On the positive side, you will see results if you stick with the program no question about it, but don't expect a dramatic transformation. The gains will be moderate to good at best. Normally, if you are a beginner you will see the most gains with a year or 2 of training and this book will be very helpful. However advanced lifters will gain little from this book. I recommend getting a magazine subscription of any of the bodybuilding magazines out there instead of this book.

P.S. there is no way you are going to look like the any of the guys in the book by working out naturally.

The trainings are a little bit light in contents on the other hand dietary level plans are rather done well, I recommend him(it), on the other hand in term of transformation(processing) I do not believe whether it is a good book

This book is a big waste of money and reading time. It provides minimal information and a poor format to follow for a 12 month training program. It's not even a good bird cage liner.
