just fluff. Take out the plethora of cute little stories, cut the repetition out of the language (anything he thinks is important, he says twelve different ways) and subtract all of the "did you get that?"s and the "understand?"s and this book would fit into a pamphlet. yeesh, even the font and spacing are amplified to make it seem bigger and better than it is. At best, it's a weak sermon series, a platform to reiterate the most basic points about christianity. fluff. go read something else.

I would not recommend this book for any introductory fluid mechanics course because there are a lot of derivation steps as well as background information assumed by the author.
This is more of a mathematical approach to fluid mechanics as opposed to the more classical engineering approach.

Save Your Money --- Don't Buy This

I bought a paperback version of this textbook a few years ago. There were many printing and typo errors (the top few lines on many pages were lost),and the quality of explanations in the textbook is disappointing for a group of authors from a supposedly distinguished university. Wanted to sell the book to recoup my loss but there was no market for it. Doesn't that speak volumes about this book?

This book was used in my fluids class and was no help at all. The explanations are unclear and confusing, and there are very few examples. This book does not make a good class text or reference text. Do not buy this book. If you are an undergrad then buy Fluid Mechanics by Young et al. or Crowe et al., or if you want more buy Viscous Fluid Flow by White.

About the Author
Leonard Woolf was born in London in 1880. Educated at St. Paul's School and Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1904 he joined the Civil Service in Ceylon returning to England in May 1911. With his wife, Virginia Woolf, he lived at the heart of the Bloomsbury Group, setting up the Hogarth Press with her in 1917. He wrote two novels, a number of works of non-fiction and a brilliant five-volume memoir. He died in 1969.

When the description says the book "may" include numerous typos, what it does not reveal is that the book DOES include at least twice, and often three times, on each full page of text a line break, the TITLE OF THE BOOK in capital letters, and the page number from the edition at the UC-Berkeley library from which it was scanned. I found these insertions so distracting that I immediately returned the book to Amazon and ordered a used copy of the out-of-print Oxford University Press edition from a different bookseller. I am deeply disappointed in Amazon for including such flawed produts among its offering.

The Village in the Jungle

The Village in the Jungle, a fictional novel by Leonard Woolf, associates a series of catastrophic stories with one another. The predominant figures are Silindu (a hunter) and his two daughters Punchi Menika and Hinnihami. This story itself is based upon several different significant themes, including fate, love and tragedy. Personally, I found the book an absolute delight to read, being both suspenseful and interesting. Although the book cover jacket will most likely lack appeal to many people, this is most definitely a situation where one should not "judge a book by its cover". The title, The Village in the Jungle is nothing short of appropriate to the theme and plot of the novel. The plot, in a nutshell, is about a man named Silindu, who lives in the jungle and resists fate at every turn. He is an excellent hunter with cunning eyes, hunched-up shoulders and a small dark face all pinched. His ability of traveling around the jungle exceeds those of the animals. The incredible descriptions Woolf utilizes in the story allows the reader to clearly picture Silindu and his quest. The climax of the story is about Silindu's journey, having caught an "eccentric" disease. He didn't allow his daughter Hinnihami to marry a man from Vederala in the first place. Thus it was said that the disease he has is actually an evil spell. No matter how much effort he tries to cure himself it won't happen unless he willingly lets his daughter marry the man. The plot itself is really exciting throughout the entire book, with a few parts that are fairly slower in pace. "Leafless trees, hot humid air, rigid branches, and spider leg stems" is a portion of Leonard's description of the Jungle. All of his descriptions are perfectly arranged throughout the story, in which it makes the readers fall into the fabricated jungle described in his plot. "The air is heavy with the heat beating up from the earth. There is a fear everywhere: in the silence and in the shrill calls and the wild cries, in the stir of the scattered leaves and the grating of branches, in the gloom, in the startled, slinking, and peering beasts." (Pg 6, Woolf) This is one of the best lines taken out of the novel, because it gives the reader a full picture of the setting in the story. I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for a hero's novel, although copies are exceedingly rare to locate as there were initially only a limited amount of copies printed. Through this story we can evidently see Silindu's courage in facing problems in unfavorable circumstances. I personally believe he is a true hero, because he really did have the spirit in surviving and staying alive no matter what happened. Overall, this novel is definitely an extraordinary thrilling book for anyone, providing hours of entertainment for people of all ages.

fraudulent copy of VILLAGE IN THE JUNGLE

I have bought from amazon a copy of leonard Woolf VILLAGE IN THE JUNGLE. It was meant as a present to a friend but it turns out to be a scanned copy with little connection with the original. The return menu also does not seem to work. I am seriously concerned about this kind of reproduction that amounts to fraud.

Average anatomy book

If you want a male anatomy reference book this one is for you. If you need female anatomical references, it's not very helpful. There are no comparative views of male and female forms. This is a major drawback, considering that men and women have different exterior shapes despite the similarities of their skeletal structures. All of the anatomical illustrations are of male standing poses and each section of the book has a small thumbnail illustrations to illustrate what effects movement have on the underlying musculature.

A useful reference for artists

I have had this book almost since its first publication, and even today I find myself returning to it on occasion.
Broken down into seven chapters, it begins with "The Human Body", a three+ page written introduction to anatomy and movement. The next chapters are "The Head And Neck", "The Trunk", "The Arm", "The Hand", "The Hip And Leg" and finally "The Foot". Beginning with a few pages of text describing the form and function of the part in question, each chapter then follows the by-now-familiar route of showing the skeletal substructure, fleshed out with the muscles in plan and side views. Each chapter is rounded out with a number of small drawings showing movement and its effect on surface form and the consistency with which the male figure is depicted throughout is quite extraordinary, if a little idealised.
I would recommend "Drawing Human Anatomy" by Giovanni Civardi as the best stand-alone anatomy book for artists, however this is a solid reference and the beautiful style in which Rubins draws I still find inspirational after more than twenty years.
While aesthetically I find this title much more pleasing, Joseph Sheppard's "Anatomy: A Complete Guide for Artists" together with his other books "Drawing The Male Figure" and "Drawing The Female Figure" have proved more versatile on a problem-solving basis.
I am very pleased to see this back in print again and am sure it will find a new generation of fans.

personally, my book of choice when it comes to anatomy.

this is a great book. i was first introduced to this book when i took a sculpting class in college and throughout art school, this is still my favorite anatomy book. Rubins spells out the muscule mass' in direct almost simplified ways that makes it very understandable and easy to grasp. each area is broken down into front side and back views and even includes a page at the end of each chapter that shows the bodypart of discussion in various poses. fundamentally this is the best book i've run into. i recommend it highly if you want an easy guide to the understanding of human anatomy.

Using this for years!

I have taught the Fingermath method to many Learning Disabled and blind students over my 30 year career. I have found that many students just need the tactual aspect of this method to help them jump over to the memorization of basic facts. I especially like using Fingermath to teach the multiplication facts. I have taught many adults, mostly teachers, and it is funny, but they have a harder time catching on, so don't give up! This is a gift!

i didnt feel that this was one of the best in the series but none-the-less still a good book. i was dissapointed to see that the guys didnt figure themselves out til close to the end of the book so you dont get much of them together. but it was still a good book and i will continue to read this series.. i hope they come out with a book about colt though!!!lol
